If you are proposing a project for the community to develop, please clarify upfront whether this is:

• Purely altruistic / gift for everyone
• part of an existing for-profit or nonprofit,
• A idea that might generate a new initiative or even a company,
• A project that supports your personal brand or business.

Any of these are fine, but clarity is appreciated. If a project becomes financially generative, then those involved in ideating and iterating should share in the success, depending on their level of input.

the room runs on shared half-formed thoughts. that only works if people trust how their ideas get used.

• if you want to build on someone's idea, ask them
• if you ship something, credit the people who shaped it — including the early conversations
• if someone asks not to be named in a write-up, photo, or post, that holds

the simplest version: ask first, credit generously.
